Giant Monkey Frog

Giant Leaf Frog, Giant Waxy Monkey Treefrog
Where to start with the Giant Monkey Frog? It's ridiculously large for a tree frog. It's extremely silly looking. It has a waxy skin secretion with various pharmaceutical properties. It's a friggin' monkey frog. Life isn't complete until you've seen a Giant Monkey Frog.
This particular Giant Monkey Frog was christened "Bob" by Mike Pingleton.

By day, a Giant Monkey Frog hunkers down, looking perhaps even more ridiculous than it does at night.
By night, a Giant Monkey Frog in all its glory.
Now that is one large and goofy-looking frog. We saw a good number of these large and silly frogs again this year.

This is what a Giant Monkey Frog looks like when it is certainly a monkey frog but not yet a giant one. This youngster was less than half the length of the big ones pictured above, about the size of adults of the other local species Phyllomedusa vaillantii and Phyllomedusa tomopterna.
