Toad at Mara River, Kenya Bufo maculatus |

This was a pretty generic looking toad, perhaps 4 inches long. It was
hopping about the camp near the dining area. I don't have any references
that display or even just list toads in Africa, so I have no guesses
about the identify of this toad.
The Mara River Camp is on the Mara River, just a few miles from Masai Mara Game Reserve. In 2006, a guide to Amphibians of East Africa by Alan Channing and Kim M. Howell was published. I used this guide to identify this toad as Bufo maculatus. Please send me mail if you have any further information about this toad. | ||||
