Trachylepis aureopunctata
—
Gold-spotted Mabuya
This species is very similar to Trachylepis nancycoutuae, which we had seen in Isalo National Park. There are some minor differences in pattern, but they are easy to distinguish strictly from range: T. nancycoutuae is only found in Isalo.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
The Authority says this species is often found on the ground, but all the ones I saw were basking in trees (or on a concrete barbecue).
