Isalo Skink
These skinks are known only from Isalo National Park. The species was named in honor of Nancy Coutu, a Peace Corps volunteer who was murdered by cattle thieves in 1996 in Bereketa, a small and remote village in the west of Madagascar.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
These skinks just wanted to slither away; they had no intention of holding their heads up high in the classic proud skink pose.
