Leptophryne borbonica
—
Cross Toad
Also known as:
Hourglass Toad, Bourbon Toad, Java Tree Toad, Slender-legged Toad
This toad's shape is somewhere between Malaysia's more typically-shaped toads such as Phrynoidis asper and Malaysia's very attenuated toads such as Ansonia leptopus. It took me a moment to recognize it as something I hadn't seen before, but I'm glad I did, because this was the only individual that my guide Kurt "Orion" G and I saw, even though we came back to this spot twice more.
My Travelogues and Trip Lists page includes a complete list of the herps I saw in the wild on this trip to Malaysia, as well as a travelogue of the trip.
