Varanus scalaris

Spotted Tree Monitor
A small Varanus scalaris and I startled each other on the trail that starts and ends at the base of Wangi Falls and visits the top of said falls along the way. It ran deep into a small hollow log. I could see it there, but just barely, and not enough for a photo. It was a beautiful lizard. I hope Ill see another one someday.
Ive written up an account of this three-week trip to Australia here.
