This species was formerly considered a subspecies of Trachemys scripta.
On our way from Hermosillo to Álamos, we took a small detour to check out a small river for these turtles. We saw a number of them, all at a distance and all extremely wary. This is cropped from a photo taken with a 300mm lens, and all my other photos were worse.
