Western Blue-tongued Skink
Also known as:
Western Blue-tongued Lizard, Western Blue-tongue Lizard
I spotted this adorable lizard as it contemplated a suicidal wander across World Heritage Drive, upon which we were driving. We pulled over and I ran back to divert it from its planned terminal course, and also anap a few photos. The lizard was not impressed by my help. First it tried out its “You must leave me alone because I am so flat!” tactic. When that failed, it moved on to “You must leave me alone or I will lick you with my giant blue tongue!”. I wonder on which animals these maneuvers are actually effective.
Ive written up an account of this three-week trip to Australia here.
