Sceloporus variabilis
—
Rose-bellied Lizard
Also known as:
Rosebelly Lizard, Texas Rose-bellied Lizard, Pink Belly Swift

I found this pretty little Sceloporus hiding under a log. When uncovered, it ran to the nearest safe-looking spot, which was under my shoe (which I was, indeed, wearing at the time). I slowly lifted my shoe, and it ran back under the log. I turned the log again, and it ran back under my shoe. At that point I managed to convince it to sit still on top of the log for a short while and pose for a couple of pictures.

From the location, this young lizard seems like it should be Sceloporus variabilis. The very similar species Sceloporus teapensis becomes common a little further north.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this trip to Guatemala.
