Spinomantis aglavei
—
Anamalozoatra Madagascar Frog
Also known as:
Malagasy Mossy Frog
We found a number of these most excellent moss-mimic frogs in a particular forest. However, I later learned that there are a couple of closely related species that might also have been in the same forest: Spinomantis fimbriatus and Spinomantis phantasticus. I'm pretty sure that the first three above are Spinomantis aglavei, but I have some suspicions that the last two might be Spinomantis fimbriatus. I need to see a few dozen more so I can better learn to tell them apart.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
Here are a couple more from a week later that are probably Spinomantis aglavei, but perhaps not.
