Black Wood Turtle
Also known as:
Black River Turtle

We saw a few of these turtles in the warm brown waters of Tortuguero National Park. Other people on the boat saw a couple turtles resting on the shore, but by the time I saw them they had plopped into the river, so I only got lousy photos of them briefly submerging.
