Polychrus cf. marmoratus
—
undescribed species
As the Reptile Database points out, Polychrus marmoratus was
“formerly reported from Brazil (Amazonas, Pernambuco, Sao Paulo, Maranhao, Para, Amapa, Roraima, Espírito Santo, Ceará, Bahia, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro), S Venezuela, Trinidad, Tobago, Isla Margarita, French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru (Pasco etc.), Colombia, but Murphy et al. 2017 have restricted this species to populations from Guyana and Suriname”
So the ones in Peru are now in yet-to-be-formally-described limbo. These lizards spend most of their time way high up in trees, but this cooperative individual had chosen to slumber only about six feet up. Note the ridiculously long tail.
