Paroedura guibeae
—
Betroka Leaf-toed Gecko
Madagascar's National Parks are closed to visitors at night, so in order to seek out interesting nocturnal herps in the area we had to visit spots outside of the park boundaries but with the same basic geology. The local guides knew of a spot with some big sandstone outcroppings, which we thought might be good for rock-dwelling geckos, and sure enough rock-dwelling geckos were there to be found. Once again, José found most of them.
Along with Paroedura rennerae, which we had seen at Anja, this is another species split from Paroedura bastardi in 2021. I still haven't seen P. bastardi itself.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
