Phelsuma gouldi
—
Anja Day Gecko
This species is found only within this small community reserve and a spot or two nearby. It is very similar in appearance and genetics to the more widespread Phelsuma mutabilis.
I was expecting to see these geckos during the day, them being Day Geckos after all. I wasn't expecting to see one on our first night sleeping on a granite wall, where the nocturnal rock-dwelling geckos belong.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
That's more like it. Day geckos during the day, doing day-gecko things.
