Lygodactylus cf. tuberosus "Toliara"
—
undescribed species
As far as I have been able to determine, only one kind of Lygodactylus is found on Madagascar's southwest coast in the vicinity of Toliara. The Authority calls this species Lygodactylus tuberosus. However, a paper from 2017 suggests that it is worth splitting off from the rest of Lygodactylus tuberosus as a new species, but does not actually describe the new species. So these poor geckos are kind of in taxonomic limbo as they await their eventual new description and name.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
This location is about 40km north of Arboretum d'Antsokay, but the same *Lygodactylus* comments apply.
These li'l geckos are all stressed out with anticipation of the day that they get their very own species name.
