Lankanectes pera
—
Dumbara Corrugated Frog
Prior to the discovery of this species in 2018, Sri Lanka boasted only one frog from the ancient frog family Nyctibatrachidae. Lankanectes is believed to be the only Sri Lankan amphibian lineage that survived the mass extinction event at the end of the Cretaceous period, nearly 70 million years ago.
