Lycodon butleri

Butler’s Wolf Snake
Also known as:
Mountain Wolf Snake
I saw this very small snake as it crawled along a steep hillside. Not knowing my Malaysian snakes, I simply yelled "snake!" to my guide Kurt "Orion" G, who quickly determined that it was a young Butler's Wolf Snake and not a young Banded Krait, and thus we would not die if it bit us. Which is good, because it turned out to be very bitey.
My Travelogues and Trip Lists page includes a complete list of the herps I saw in the wild on this trip to Malaysia, as well as a travelogue of the trip.
