Hyperolius balfouri

Balfour’s Reed Frog
This little frog was the only herp I managed to photograph on a morning hike in Kyambura Gorge. I also saw a couple of skinks dash away and another frog bounce off. This one paused in the trail, but only long enough for me to take this one overexposed flash photo. We also didn't see any chimpanzees, which was what brought us to Kyambura Gorge in the first place. But it was a beautiful place, and we saw some black and white Colobus monkeys, so we can hardly complain.
Many thanks to Dr. Robert Drewes for tentatively identifying this frog. There's no way to be sure from one lousy photo, but his guess is good enough for me. Don't go showing this photo as the definitive H. balfouri though.
