Gekko horsfieldii
—
Horsfield’s Flying Gecko
Also known as:
Horsfield’s Parachute Gecko
This species was formerly placed in genus Ptychozoon, but recent molecular studies showed that Ptychozoon was an artificial grouping.
I spotted this large and beautiful gecko while I patrolled the grounds of the lodge in which I was staying. The lodge buildings were on high platforms, and this gecko was on the underside of the building, still a good six feet above my outstretched arms (and I have long arms). I took this photo from directly below. I hoped the gecko would wander into the open, or ideally down one of the large support posts, but alas, this was as exposed as it was willing to get.
