Fowlea asperrima
—
Boulenger’s Keelback
This species was formerly classified as Xenochrophis asperrimus. After being transferred to Fowlea, the specific name was incorrectly left in the masculine form "asperrimus" until somebody finally noticed, so many references use F. asperrimus instead of the corrected F. asperrima.
This is a common semi-aquatic species, posing against its will on a rock. I found it sneaking through a marshy area on the grounds of my guide Udaya Chanaka's Runakanda Rainforest Conservation Center.
