Ebenavia boettgeri

Boettger’s Clawless Gecko
When it rains, it pours. I was very happy to finally see my first Ebenavia species on my third trip to Madagascar, and then at our next location we saw this second species. Very cool little geckos.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this 2023 trip to Madagascar.
These geckos remind me a little of the Cat Gecko of southeast Asia.
The tails on these geckos are a very different texture and pattern than the bodies. Maybe this is to encourage predators to aim for that part first, but I don't really know.
Once again on this Madagascar trip, I returned to my bungalow after a marvelous night of herping to find geckos awaiting me.
