Dendrelaphis cyanochloris
—
Blue Bronzeback
Also known as:
Wall’s Bronzeback
My first Malaysian snake was this iridescent diurnal tree snake, which my guide Kurt "Orion" G spotted as it slept at night. We interrupted its beauty sleep to get a few photos. We saw it again when we returned down the trail. In the meantime it had settled into the photogenic pose shown in the second photo above.
My Travelogues and Trip Lists page includes a complete list of the herps I saw in the wild on this trip to Malaysia, as well as a travelogue of the trip.
This snake had also been sleeping in vegetation when we pestered it for photos, but it had no interest in settling down, and we soon gave up and moved on in the hopes of finding something more unique and/or cooperative.
