Calumma radamanus
—
Ambatond’Radama Nosed Chameleon
This species was split out from Calumma nasutum in 2020.
With the recent untangling of the Calumma nasutum complex, there are now a number of pretty similar-looking chameleons with silly nose protuberances. Some of their ranges overlap, but only Calumma radamanus was recognized in the Masoala Peninsula. In fact, two of the specimens used to redefine C. radamanus were found in the vicinity of the Eco-Lodge Chez Arol, which is where I was staying when we saw this chameleon.
