Aspidura trachyprocta
—
Common Rough-sided Snake
This common species can be found in pretty much any habitat in Sri Lanka's central hills above 700m, including home gardens such as the one in which we uncovered this fellow. We took a few photos, then covered the little snake with a half-coconut shell to get it to calm down and pose differently. A few minutes later we removed the coconut shell and (surprise!) the snake was nowhere to be found.
