Anolis cobanensis
—
Stuart’s Anole

On my first night of this Guatemala trip, my guide Fred Muller and I found many of these lizards resting in vegetation at night.
Here is a list of all the reptiles and frogs I saw on this trip to Guatemala.

The next morning we saw a few of them active, including this one who was extending his dewlap so that we could match the color with the local anole candidates. At least I think that's why he was doing this.

We spent another night in the same location a few days later, and once again saw a number of these. It turns out that they are endemic to a fairly small portion of Guatemala, but they are quite common within their range.
